History

In 2004 the Science Faculty of the Universidad de Valparaiso decided to develop the first astronomy group in Chile's fifth region. Meanwhile the group has 7 staff members each of them carrying on ambitious research projects.

As a group, we are interested in stars and galaxies, how they form and die, and the exotic physical processes that they allow us to explore. We study these phenomena observationally, using mostly the arsenal of Chilean observing facilities, and theoretically using modern numerical methods.
